BMW’s Z4
BMW’s Z4 has a controversial appearance that tends to divide opinion quite sharply, but there’s no disputing that this is a charming and capable roadster, with enough space inside and enough power under the hood to thoroughly entertain its driver. It has been around since 2003, but we shouldn’t forget just how much more rigid and roomy this car is compared with its predecessor. It again comes with a choice of two engines: the surprisingly sweet 184-hp, 2.5-liter inline six, and the predictably punchy 225-hp, 3.0-liter inline six. Along with manual and automatic transmissions, the SMG six-speed is also available, but only in the 3.0-liter model for 2005, and the Sport package is required. Light poplar wood trim is now a no-charge option on all models, the 2.5i gets standard cruise control and fog lights, and the 3.0i has standard automatic climate control.
